Talking Shop: The 89 Percent Project’s Next Phase
CCNow’s 89 Percent Project made news in April reporting that 80 to 89% of the world’s people want their governments to take stronger climate action. The next phase of the project explores the people behind the numbers: who are they, why do they care, are they surprised to learn they’re the overwhelming majority?
At this Talking Shop, journalists interested in participating in this phase of The 89 Percent Project swapped ideas with journalists from The Guardian, The Asahi Shimbun, and Agência Pública de Jornalismo Investigativo about how to gather candid, revealing answers from your audiences and the general public in order to present a vivid, factually grounded portrait of the global climate majority in all its diversity. Ethieny Karen, Journalist & Videomaker at Agência Pública de Jornalismo Investigativo, Keisuke Katori, Senior Staff Writer at The Asahi Shimbun, and Danielle Renwick, Editor at The Guardian, joined as panelists for a conversation moderated by Mark Hertsgaard, CCNow’s executive director and co-founder.
